Zimmi Diamonds

Zimmi Diamonds are among the rarest natural treasures in the world, revered for their unrivaled intensity and the most saturated golden hue of all yellow diamonds. Representing a mere 0.001% of all Fancy Vivid and Fancy Deep Yellow diamonds, they are extraordinarily scarce and sought after by the most discerning collectors.

Exquisite Hues

While the majority are graded Fancy Vivid Yellow or Fancy Deep Yellow, some reveal exquisite secondary hues: delicate inflections of orange, green, or brown adding layers of character and individuality.

Unmatched Rarity & Premium

Though the GIA grading scale does not separate saturation levels within the Fancy Vivid category, the distinction of Zimmi’s color is unmistakable to the trained eye. Their radiance is so exceptional that Zimmi Diamonds command a world-class premium. Universally classified as Type Ib, they owe their remarkable intensity to rare nitrogen impurities, a scientific rarity that translates into unmatched beauty.

Origin

Born in the rainforest-rich Zimmi region of Sierra Leone’s Pujehun District, along the Liberian border, these diamonds are unearthed through traditional alluvial mining by local communities. Each stone is fully traceable and certified under the Kimberley Process, guaranteeing their conflict-free provenance.

Jewels of Legends

Exquisite, rare, and steeped in heritage, Zimmi Diamonds are jewels of legends, an enduring expression of rarity and refinement available only through the most trusted names in the world of luxury.

Zimmi vs Regular Yellow Diamonds — What Is the Difference?

Not all Fancy Vivid Yellow diamonds are equal. A standard Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond owes its color to aggregated nitrogen clusters the most common form of nitrogen arrangement in natural diamonds. A Zimmi diamond, classified as Type Ib, contains isolated single nitrogen atoms distributed throughout its crystal structure. This rare arrangement produces a color saturation so intense and pure that it is immediately distinguishable from any other yellow diamond in the world. Side by side, the difference is not subtle, a Zimmi’s golden warmth has a depth and richness that standard Fancy Vivid Yellows simply cannot match.

How to Identify a Zimmi Diamond

Zimmi diamonds are not a GIA-designated category, the GIA does not use the term “Zimmi” on grading reports. However, authentic Zimmi diamonds can be identified through two methods: origin traceability documentation from the Zimmi mining region in Sierra Leone, and GIA Type classification confirming Type Ib status. At Rosenberg Diamonds & Co., every Zimmi diamond is accompanied by full documentation confirming its origin and GIA certification. We never offer stones of uncertain provenance.

Zimmi Diamonds as a Collectible Asset

The supply of Zimmi diamonds is finite and diminishing. The alluvial deposits in Sierra Leone’s Pujehun District that produce these extraordinary stones are not renewable once exhausted, there will be no new source. This geological reality, combined with extraordinary color that places them in a category above all other yellow diamonds, makes Zimmi diamonds increasingly sought after by collectors and private investors worldwide.
